1888 FAQ’s

What is 1888 Hand Pressed Olive Juice?

1888 is a revolutionary new dirty martini mixer that will change the way we consume martinis. It takes all the guess work out of making a dirty martini and gives you the perfect cocktail every time.

Why not just use the brine from a jar of olives?

Ordering a traditional dirty martini means letting your bartender walk a fine line between “dirty” and “tasting like the ocean.” Asking for 1888 by name guarantees consistency in getting exactly what you want every time, without the overpowering, salty aftertaste.

How is it made?

Using a one-ton press, 1888 extracts the juice from whole Spanish olives and bottles it. That’s it: no filters, no additives, just real olive flavor without the salty aftertaste. Because 1888 is so pure, it has up to 60% less sodium content than other “martini juice” and you get to enjoy the healthy benefits of olives, getting antioxidants, healthy cholesterol-improving fats, and of course, delicious taste while you drink.

Why is it called 1888?

1888 was the first year that the martini was published in The New and Improved Bartending Manual. And frankly, after over 120 years, the most elegant of cocktails is due for an upgrade. James Bond would expect nothing less.

Aren't there other comparable dirty martini mixers?

No. 1888 is revolutionary and the first of its kind. Other dirty martini “mixers” are just bottle brine, resulting in an overly salty martini. 1888  offers the perfect blend of pure olive flavor, brine, and pimento, giving you a true dirty martini. It will change the way martinis are ordered across the entire globe.
